Istanbul, struck by again a horrifying act of senseless violence. A deadly attack that targeted innocent police officials on duty as well as civilians. The death toll and the number of victims from the twin blasts Saturday night is shockingly high. Every single one of them is part of a family, of a community, of a nation. One cannot imagine the grief of those who are left behind with pain, with sorrow, after a such tragic event.
I want to convey my deepest sympathy and solidarity with the families, loved ones and friends touched in this tragedy, with the people of Istanbul and Turkey. I also want to express my support and gratitude to all the police officers, rescue and aid workers that were present or involved in the aftermath of the attack.
A book of condolence will be opened to signature at the Chancery of the Consulate-General (Sorbenlaan 16, 2610 Wilrijk) on 14th, 15th and 16th December 2016 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
